Budapest Day 1

written by Mert ÇELİK July 23, 2017

Hello Everyone!

Today was our first day in Budapest. Our hotel is near the Buda Castle (“Budavari Palota”) so we decided to start visiting from here. When we woke up, we ate something immediately. You can go Buda Castle by funicular or by walking or by hop on hop off. We choose funicular because ıt take too short time to go to top of the Buda Castle and you also see amazing Budapest view from funicular. Funicular prize is 1800 Forint (two-way ticket). If u ask me, I think you should go here early because when u come here in the afternoon, you can see lots of people that waiting for the funicular. When we arrived here, we shocked! This view was fascinating!..

When we were walking, we were caught in the rain so we went back to hotel and changed our clothes. We had a reservation from Budapest Parliament Building for visiting inside and so we left from hotel to go here.

Its so important information!

Budapest Parliament Building’s reservations sold out too early. We looked before 1 week but it sold out. So you absolutely check reservation a week before your vacation. The prize of the tickets is 12.5 Euro for (non)eu students, is 22 Euro for adults. There are 5 languages (English,Spanish,Italian,French,German) option for trip but English trips is the most popular so sold out earlier than others.

We were too late for English trip reservation so we had to buy Italian trip and we didn’t understand anything that trip guide told. Budapest Parliament Building is really impressive and I think, you should certainly visit here!! When you left here, in 2-3 minutes you can see the Shoes on the Danube Bank (“Cipők a Duna-parton”). Don’t forget to see this shoes!!

After all of these, we were so hungry and wanna eat something.Budapest’s most popular meal is Goulash.. We remembered it and left from here to eat it.

Goulash is really like Turkish potatoes with meat. We serve it in plate but Hungarians serve it in bowl. They’s taste are really similar but Hungarians care about pepper much more than us so the differences occur here. You should really taste it!!

We rested and were full so it was time to go Gellért Hill.. There is 3 way to go Gellert Hill; Walking near the Gellert Hotel. This way is so upright and tired. Another way is start from Gellert Monument that is near the Elisabeth Bridge. Last way is taxi 🙂 but I think walking always the best choice for discover new places, things , etc… When you walked you can also see the cave churches. Anymore we were exhausted! and turned back for resting…zzz

Hope to see you in my other writing “Budapest Day 2” !!
